Chi Heißerer

Chi joins us this summer from Bavaria, Germany. She attended the University of Twente in the Netherlands where she graduated with a degree in Psychology. Her camp experience includes a camp created by the German soccer player Philipp Lahm who she got to meet when she attended the camp! Last summer, she volunteered at an orphanage in South Africa, which inspired her love for working with children. She says, “I can’t wait for camp, getting to know everybody, becoming a tight-knit group, eating great food together, and having lots of fun!”

Chi loves to read, try out new recipes (both baking and cooking), travel, and watch ice hockey games (go Leafs!). The first time she ever tried a vegetable was 1.5 years ago (you’ll have to ask her how she managed to get that far in life without them) and she absolutely loves canned peaches. Chi connects best to God by reading the Bible and listening to sermons. She loves it when she has a question or something she is struggling with, only to open up her Bible and find that it is speaking right to what she was wondering about!

This summer, Chi is really looking forward to her Camp Bear Creek experience. She says, “I can’t wait to have fun and meaningful conversations with the kids and connect with them! They see the world so differently than adults, and I can’t wait to hear their thoughts and questions. I also can’t wait for worship in the evenings and have cozy nights around the campfire.”

Chi’s favorite Bible verse is Acts 20:24: “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”
