Freddie Hoffman

Freddie grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and will graduate from high school in May of this year. He plans to attend Iowa State University to study Music Education. Freddie attended other camps, but last year, he completed the Counselors-in-Training (CIT) program at Camp Bear Creek. He says, “My year as a CIT and it was amazing. I spent one week at camp and I knew that I wanted to spend my entire summer there. It has pushed me into pursuing a career in education and helped me truly understand my love for Jesus.”

As you might guess from his chosen major, Freddie has some musical talents. He plays the guitar and percussion. He also loves Legos. You’ll have to ask him to tell you about the best thing he’s ever created with Legos. He has four cats at home named Judy Garland, Norman, Pippin, and Barnaby. Freddie connects best with God through listening to music and going on walks, whether thats through his neighborhood or trails in the woods.

This summer, Freddie says, “I’m looking forward to campfires and meals connecting with people that I would normally never have had the chance to talk to.” He’s excited to learn about their life views, whether they are kids who are younger or staff who are older than him. He’s also excited to sing songs and play games with everyone at camp. He says, “I love camp and I am so excited for all of the connections I am going to make this summer!!!”

Freddie’s favorite Bible verse is Acts 20:24: “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”
