Carla is an international student studying here in the United States. She is from São Paulo, Brazil and is studying Sports Management at Mount Mercy University. She can speak three different languages: Portuguese, Spanish, and English! She is the youngest in her family and has one older brother. Carla connects best with God through prayer, and she loves to pray while she walks to school in the mornings. She also enjoys studying the Bible with her friends.
In her free time, Carla likes to clean her house and organize (we think there might be a lot of cleanest cabin awards in her future) as well as spend time with her friends. She runs track in college and her freshman year, she was All-American! She is a great athlete, and in addition to track and field, she also does pole vaulting. Of course, she also volunteers at the Cedar Rapids Track and Field Club.
Carla has never been to Camp Bear Creek, but she did have some camp experiences growing up in Brazil. She says, “They were perfect and I have many good memories of games, campfires, and food.” Carla loves working with kids and has a 9-year old nephew at home that she likes to hang out with. She is really looking forward to joining the staff here at camp this summer. Carla says, “I’m excited to learn from the kids and have a lot of fun.”
Carla’s favorite Bible verse is John 3:16: “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
