Diego comes to us from Puebla, Mexico, a beautiful city near the center of the country, rich in museums, legends, art, and culture. He is a Software Engineering student at the Popular Autonomous University of the State of Puebla. In his free time, Diego likes to play basketball, video games, and go skating with his penny board. He is great a solving Rubik’s cubes, and has his own collection of them. Diego likes to learn and try new things and also just enjoys walking around and exploring his city.
Diego had the chance to attend a safari camp for three days organized by his elementary school. They learned about plants, animals, and team work. He also completed a pilgrimage walk to the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City from Ixtapaluca. At the base camp, he got to sit around a fire with others and rest for the next day’s journey. Now, he’s excited to have an American summer camp experience. Diego says, “I’m excited to learn new skills and strengthen my faith. I believe that meaningful experiences with children and people who have more knowledge can help me become a better Christian in an engaging and active way.”
Diego believes that God is always watching over us, and he connects with God through daily prayer and weekly church attendance. He likes to write essays, stories, poems, and songs on things that he finds interesting. Whenever he goes to a new place, he likes to collect a rock from that place. He says its small, free, and a great way to remember all of the places he has been.
Diego’s favorite Bible verse is John 13:34: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”
