Kelly joins us from the country of Australia, although she was born in South Africa! She just graduated with a Physics degree from the University of Western Australia. She had the opportunity to attend church camp as a kid in Australia, and looks back on the experience fondly. “They were so fun! My favorite parts were the worship sessions and spending time with God early in morning surrounded by nature. I also remember playing capture the flag and amazing race; both were super fun!”
It’s hard for Kelly to narrow down her list of favorite hobbies. She loves trying new things and having new experiences. A couple of her favorites include finding new spots while cycling, surfing, or hiking, practicing different songs on the saxophone, piano, or guitar, sketching, crafting, or painting something beautiful, writing stories and songs, learning new things about God, and meeting new people. Some quirky facts about Kelly: She likes to go on runs down mountains and listen to the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack as she goes. She also eats all of her burgers and sandwiches in a circle.
Kelly connects best with God while exploring creation and getting outside. She also likes to journal and write letters to God. Kelly says, “Camp’s going to be so much fun, and I’m so excited to meet you!”
When asked to choose a favorite Bible verse, Kelly said, “How could anyone choose one? The verse that’s stuck with me the most is probably Psalm 73:26 which says ‘Though my heart and flesh may fail, the Lord is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.’ But this year Joshua 1:9 has stood out ‘Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.'”
