Nkemjika Nze

Nkemjika (who goes by his last name, Nze) is originally from Nigeria. He is a Kinesiology major at Greensboro College in North Carolina. He is most interested in Camp so that he can learn more about coaching and working with kids. Nze says, “I’m also very excited to make new friendships.” He does’t have much American Camp experience, but he was a counselor and coach for a sports camp in Nigeria before he moved to the United States. He’s also really excited to be part of the Christian Community here at camp.

Nze can speak three different African languages in addition to English! You’ll have to ask him to teach you some phrases in different languages when you meet him. In his free time, he likes going on walks, listening to music, and playing soccer.

Nze says, “My favorite way to connect with God is by praying. When I pray, I feel like I’m having a conversation with God.” He’s anxious to grow in his faith at camp this summer as he helps campers along on their own faith journey and growing in their relationship with Jesus.

For Nze, it was hard to pick just one Bible verse. His favorite chapter in the Bible is 1 Corinthians 13 – “the love chapter.” Here is an excerpt from that chapter: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
