Sarah is from Milan, Illinois and studies Business & Management at Blackhawk Community College. This will be her first summer at Camp Bear Creek, but she has attended quite a few summer camps growing up. She says, “I enjoy experiencing a rich camp environment where I can experience God in the little things, such as the sunrise or a warm campfire on a chilly summer evening.”
Sarah likes to participate in a wide variety of activities. She enjoys hiking, swimming, and just being in nature during the summers. In the Winter, you’ll find her curled up with a good book – probably a fantasy since that’s her favorite genre. She’s also pretty crafty and likes everything from sewing to painting. She can’t wait to be at camp and share her passions and interests with her campers. She says, “I’m looking forward to connecting with our campers above all else. I enjoy getting to know people from all walks of life, and can’t wait to get to know each and every one of our campers this summer.”
Music is also a huge part of Sarah’s life. She can play 13 different instruments! It’s probably not surprising, then, that she connects best with God through music, whether that be listening, singing, or writing new music. She’s always looking for a new adventure. For that past five years, Sarah has enjoyed serving at her church, and for the last two years, that has been as a middle school student leader. She has a great passion for sharing the Gospel with young people, and she can’t wait to do just that at camp!
Sarah’s favorite Bible passage is Isaiah 41:9-10: “You whom I took from the ends of the earth, and called from its farthest corners, saying to you, “You are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you off; Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
