Dan is from the great state of Wyoming! He received a scholarship to play football and throw shot put for track & field at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska where he graduated with a degree in Human Biology. Following college, he attended seminary at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. Dan did a one year long internship in Laurel, Maryland at Laurel Presbyterian Church, just outside of Washington DC, that solidified his calling to pastoral ministry. Dan returned to seminary, graduating in 2011, with his Master of Divinity. He was the pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Donalsonville, Georgia for five years before being called to be the pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg, Iowa in 2016.
Dan and his wife Bethany are expecting their first child soon and have two dogs. He has a lot of hobbies, including bow hunting, traveling, weight lifting, playing guitar, and of course, playing with his dogs. Dan has not spent much time in the camp world, and he’s excited to bring an outside perspective to the board. He says, “I’m excited to be a fresh set of eyes and voice for the camp and for the chance to see the work that’s done there.” Ultimately, he hopes to learn and make a difference through his service on the Board.
Dan’s favorite Bible verse is Romans 5:3-35: “And not only that, but we also boast in our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.”
