Fletcher joins us this summer from Tauranga, New Zealand, and he can’t wait to have an American summer camp experience. He had the opportunity to attend Northern Easter Camp in the North Island of New Zealand as a teen and it was life-changing experience for him. Four thousand teens from across New Zealand attended the camp, and it was at that place that Fletcher made the decision to follow Jesus. Now, he’s ready to bring his enthusiasm for camp to us here at Camp Bear Creek. “I’m most looking forward to absolutely EVERYTHING! Forging connections with staff and campers to praising and worshiping alongside them, bible studies to games and campfires, I have had some genuinely life changing experiences at camps and I’m looking forward to the way the Lord is going to reach out and change lives at Camp Bear Creek this year!”
Fletcher definitely has an adventurous spirit. He loves to get out and try new things with others. “Roller skating, hiking, snorkelling, anything floats my boat when I’m out doing stuff with other people. Deep chats, sunsets, life experience is where it’s at for me. No matter the situation or experience, there are always blessings to enjoy.” Fletcher also has some unique skills. He can sing the entire periodic table and he knows how to juggle. Maybe he can teach you!
Fletcher connects best with God through praise and worship. “I love how no matter the day you’re having, a whispered prayer or a worship song can change your mindset in a moment. Whether by myself or with others, through the lyrics of praise or worship songs I’ve always found a refreshment of joy, awe, and reverence for God.” He’s always had a passion for working with children and teens and volunteers as a leader for youth group and children’s church. “I’ve got the energy, got the smiles, and got the dad jokes. I’m so excited to attend Camp Bear Creek because I know how good God is – and I want to make it known to everyone I can! Summer Camp is a special time that everyone should leave with lifelong memories and a closer relationship with God – both children and staff alike. Get excited, it’s gonna be an epic year! See you there. Kia Ora!”
Fletcher’s favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 16:9: “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” He explains, “In this season of my life when I’ve been unsure where I’m going or what I’m doing, I can take heart in the knowledge that whatever I choose to do, the Lord will guide me in it. If it’s something he approves of he will bless that, and if not I trust he will make that known. I’ve chosen to attend Camp Bear Creek as summer staff this year, and I pray it will be an opportunity he would bless and work through me in.”
