Jim grew up in Williamsburg, Iowa where he currently lives with his wife Martha. They have two grown children, twins Cora and Will. Both kids grew up attending Camp Bear Creek and now have children of their own. The real rulers of their home are their dogs: Copper, a Corgi, and Goldie, a Golden Retriever.

Jim earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Iowa. He graduated with his law degree two years later and is a practicing lawyer in Williamsburg. He is a third generation lawyer in a family firm that is over 100 years old.

Joining the Bear Creek board is an exciting venture for Jim. He and his wife served as volunteer counselors at the camp before his children attended when they were younger. Jim says, “I’m excited to serve a ministry that reaches kids within and outside the denomination and plants the seeds of faith in a new generation of seekers.”

In his spare time, Jim likes to fly fish in Northeast Iowa, accompanied by Copper the Corgi, of course. He says, “When asked to serve on the Board, it was easy to accept the invitation as I’ve always been connected through volunteering, my kids attending, through the Presbytery as a former Trustee and Moderator, and as a lawyer who occasionally assists and advises the Board.”

Jim’s favorite Bible verse is Amos 5:24: “But let justice roll down like water and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.”
