Liberty (who sometimes goes by Gibby) grew up as a camper at Camp Bear Creek. She completed Counselor-in-Training (CIT) camp and worked last summer as a Kitchen Assistant. She’s joining us now as a counselor for her second summer on staff! Liberty says, “I’m very excited to spend time with people from camp that I know and love, but I’m also excited to see what new experiences I will gain. I think being at camp will help me to improve my knowledge and personal relationship with God.”
Liberty grew up in Maquoketa, Iowa and goes to Clinton Community College where she is studying Science Education. She likes to learn, and for the past year, she’s been trying to teach herself Spanish. When she has free time, her favorite thing to do is go skating with her friends. Liberty is a woman of many hobbies. She says, “I love to be in nature. I love to make outfits that match my mood for the day. I love to listen and discover different music. I also really love to sing, bake, play guitar and piano, play video games, collect, and take part in all things theater.”
Reading her Bible, working out, connecting with nature, and even driving are all ways that Liberty feels closest to God. It’s a natural part of her daily life. She’s looking forward to being part of the Camp Bear Creek staff community and providing the same experience for campers that she came to know and love growing up.
Liberty’s favorite Bible passage is Colossians 3:2-3: “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”
