Maggie is from Solon, Iowa and is graduating from Luther College with a degree in English Literature. She studied abroad in the UK for her last semester, so she’s joining us after having just lived overseas for a bit! She has a nickname: Magpie! Just like the bird!
When she’s not studying or traveling the world, Maggie loves to play the piano and the French horn. She describes herself as a lifelong musician. She also enjoys reading, writing poetry, and hiking. You can see her creativity shine through in the way that she connects best with God. Maggie likes to sing worship music, write poems, and read books. She says, “After all, God wrote the best book there ever was…the Bible!”
Even though Maggie didn’t grow up at Camp Bear Creek, she did grow up going to Bible camps and as a teenager, she helped as a volunteer at her churches Vacation Bible School. This summer, she says, “I’m most looking forward to being a part of a Christ-minded community that loves to explore nature and learn about God!”
Maggie’s favorite Bible passage is Luke 12:22-26: “Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?”
