Alivia is from DeWitt, Iowa and attends Iowa State University where she is studying Animal Science. She grew up on a pig farm, which is where she first developed her love for animals, and she says she loves snuggling all the little piglets.
Alivia is very crafty and likes creative projects (think puzzles, painting, scrapbooking, and embroidery). She also loves to read and dance. Alivia says, “I loooove musicals. I can sing the entire Hamilton soundtrack word for word!” She connects best with God through nature, which is a huge part of why she wants to come to camp this summer. She likes to take a walk or hike outside while she listens to worship music or sermons.
Even though she didn’t grow up at Camp Bear Creek, Alivia is familiar with summer camp. She went to a local three-day camp near her home in the summer, and she’s still in touch with some of the friends that she made there. Alivia says, “There was nothing better than staying up late, waking up early, and spending time with friends in the presence of God. I can’t wait to do it all summer!” She’s so excited to join the staff at Camp Bear Creek. “I am most looking forward to getting to know my co-counselors and of course all the campers! I can’t wait for all of the memories there are to be made!”
Alivia’s favorite Bible passage is Romans 8:38-39: “For I am convinced that neither life nor death, neither angels nor demons, neither present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is Christ Jesus our Lord.” She says “This verse is such a comfort to me, knowing that God’s love is so great for us and that nothing could change that.”
